Since entering the Missouri marketplace in 2006, IFF has provided over 60 below-market loans to regional nonprofits for a total principal of almost $25 million. In 2008, IFF opened its first-ever Missouri office to become a permanent fixture in the local nonprofit landscape.
Missouri Director Kirby Burkholder, who oversees IFF's three Missouri staff, notes, “It has been so rewarding to work closely with Missouri nonprofits as they think strategically about facilities and the connection to financial and operational health. We will continue to grow our office to serve Missouri nonprofits as they continue to serve the people of Missouri.”
IFF also plays a special role in helping Missouri charter schools obtain critical facility financing and real estate planning guidance. We are adding new staff to focus on increasing the number of high performing charter school options in Missouri through public policy and coordinated real estate consulting services.
IFF's research department has also conducted research specific to Missouri, including Missouri Nonprofits: Building Capacity for the 21st Century and Public School in St. Louis: Place, Performance, and Promise. Read more about IFF's research of public schools in St. Louis in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, along with interactive graphics of public schools in the 16 zip code areas in the city.
A few highlights of the agencies we've been proud to work with in Missouri are as follows:
 |
Brookside Day School, Kansas City, Missouri
IFF worked with charter school Brookside Day School to expand its space to accommodate more students by providing planning and site selection services, as well as a $1 million subordinate loan. The new space helps to create a positive environment for students that is conducive to learning. For more information on this project, please click here.
"The IFF philosophy got us a building we can afford and that will provide us with the program space we need."
—Millie Krna, Executive Director, Brookside Day School

Paraquad, St. Louis
Relocation is stressful, especially for an organization dedicated to people with disabilities for whom location and accessibility are paramount. A 20-year, $1 million IFF loan, subordinate to a mortgage offered by Pulaski Bank, enabled Paraquad to secure a permanent, centrally located home for its operations. "They are used to dealing with nonprofits, they understand what they are looking at when they see your financials—they know who you are."
—Jeff Lee, Chief Financial Officer, Paraquad
