For the Media
IFF is a mission-driven lender, developer, and consultant focused on strengthening nonprofits and communities throughout the Midwest.
Since 1988, IFF has provided more than $1.3 billion in flexible, affordable financing to nonprofits serving a variety of sectors – affordable housing, health care, education, community development, and more. These investments have leveraged $4 billion, developed more than 33.4 million square feet of real estate, and impacted communities by creating more than 15,500 child care slots, 158,000 school seats, 538,000 new patient visits, and 15,500 units of affordable housing.
What does IFF stand for? We get this question a lot. Here’s our answer: IFF is an initialism, but the letters no longer stand for specific words. We are simply “IFF” and should be referred to as such in all content.
Now, some history: In 1988, IFF was founded as the “Illinois Facilities Fund.” In 2007, shortly after we expanded our services beyond the State of Illinois, we officially changed our name to simply “IFF.” Today, IFF serves nonprofits and communities throughout our Midwest footprint, which includes nine states — Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin — and the adjacent metro areas of Louisville and Northern Kentucky.
