Based in Washington, D.C., the Center for Community Investment (CCI) works to ensure that all communities can unlock the capital they need to thrive through leadership development and initiatives that strengthen collaborative networks, increase the supply of financial resources in communities that can be directed to community priorities, and advance transformative changes in local policies and practices. Last year, IFF vice president of Real Estate Solutions in Chicago, Kate Ansorge, was selected to participate in the fifth cohort of CCI’s Fulcrum Fellowship, a 13-month action-learning program that equips leaders with the knowledge and skills to ignite lasting change in communities.
Through the fellowship experience, Ansorge explored how technical assistance could be provided to support community development not just on a project-by-project basis, but through a multipronged approach that identifies common challenges in local community development ecosystems and seeks to address them at a systems level. Earlier this month, CCI highlighted this approach in an article designed to serve as a resource for fellow community development practitioners. In addition to outlining how IFF’s Real Estate Solutions team has put this framework into practice, the article — which can be accessed by clicking the image below — provides several examples from IFF’s work that underscore the potential of this approach to improve community development outcomes.
