Founded in 1977, the Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) promotes artistically and culturally significant film arts to enrich the life of the community. Among the longest-running and largest film festivals in the country, CIFF draws more than 100,000 film enthusiasts annually to celebrate an inclusive human experience.
In support of this work, IFF is sponsoring the 48th annual CIFF this year, taking place from April 3 to April 13 at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square. Earlier this week, IFF co-hosted CIFF’s Latinx Cinema Preview, where select feature film trailers were previewed ahead of this year’s festival. The event was presented by Metro West Community Development Corporation and held at LatinUs Theatre in the Pivot Center for Art, Dance, & Expression, which was developed with financing from IFF as a community hub for arts and culture after more than 100 years as a manufacturing facility.
A firm believer in the power of the arts to drive community development, the Pivot Center’s developer, Rick Foran, transformed the former industrial facility into more than 80,000 square feet of high-quality space that’s now consistently bringing new visitors to the neighborhood for events like the film festival preview.
As part of our participation in this year’s festival, IFF has also selected a film that will be screened at the Mimi Ohio Theatre on Tuesday, April 9 at 5:05pm ET and Wednesday, April 10 at 2:25pm ET called “Gradually, Then Suddenly: The Bankruptcy of Detroit.” To learn about the film and upcoming screenings, visit the CIFF website and watch the trailer below.
