Early Childhood Education (ECE)

IFF brings a full set of tools to strengthen ECE ecosystems: financing, facilities expertise, and community-informed data.

Work With Us

Across the United States, families depend on child care to work, build stability, and give their children a strong start. But today’s early childhood system is stretched too thin. Parents face waitlists and unaffordable tuition. Providers operate on razor thin margins, often in aging facilities that undermine their ability to offer stable, high-quality care. IFF understands the importance of dependable, high functioning ECE to thriving communities. Watch the video above or click the buttons below to learn more about how IFF partners with and supports the entire ECE ecosystem. There is an average of three children for every one child care slot, and lack of access to infant-toddler child care alone costs the nation $122 billion in lost earnings, productivity, and revenue every year.

Working closely with communities, our development team launches place-based early childhood education solutions across Chicago, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and St. Louis, often bridging gaps in the community by taking on challenges other developers cannot or are unwilling to pursue. We deliver equitable services from inception through completion, identifying critical gaps and leveraging our deep expertise in planning, team building, and capital resources.

Community Data Insights

Data-Informed Solutions

Community Data Insights

As a leader in early childhood education research with over 50 completed projects, IFF uses rigorous research, mapping, and community engagement to understand where child care is needed most and what solutions will have the greatest impact. We analyze ECE equity, intervention impact, site suitability, and community needs with geographies of analysis as wide as an entire state, and as small as a 1-mile radius from a specific site of interest.

Programs

We partner with philanthropy to develop and replicate evidence-based programs that enable ECE providers to better access and deploy capital to address their facilities and real estate needs.
